Project
Maven delivered urgent French and Russian interpretation for IFRC events.
Challenge
Short lead time, various formats, and interpreter availability with the right background.
About the client
International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world's largest humanitarian network. It supports National Societies and coordinates international disaster response, health and community-resilience programmes worldwide.

The project
Maven provided interpretation for IFRC events in both remote and on-site formats, delivering remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) for webinars and placing interpreters in the room for in-person conferences.
Given the urgent nature of humanitarian work, many assignments were requested at short notice. Maven kept a vetted pool of French and Russian interpreters with humanitarian-sector experience, so requests at short notice could be met. Remote and on-site formats were handled by one team.

The challenge
Short-Notice Requests – Many events required last-minute interpreter allocation, often with limited preparation time.
Diverse Event Formats – Some events were fully remote webinars, while others were on-site conferences, requiring flexible interpretation solutions.
Specialized Terminology – Humanitarian discussions involve legal, medical, and emergency response terminology, requiring interpreters familiar with IFRC protocols.
French & Russian Language Coverage – Ensuring the availability of skilled interpreters in both languages at short notice added to the logistical complexity. This included sourcing one Russian language interpreter with the right humanitarian sector expertise from abroad.

The outcome
Rapid Interpreter Deployment – We maintained a dedicated pool of vetted interpreters proficient in French and Russian, allowing us to assign qualified professionals on short notice.
Two Formats, One Team – Remote and on-site interpretation were handled by one team, with tech support to ensure smooth delivery of remote simultaneous interpretation (RSI) for virtual events and on-site interpretation for physical events. Delivering both formats ensured flexibility and continuity.
Humanitarian Sector Expertise – Our interpreters were selected based on their familiarity with IFRC operations, international humanitarian law, and crisis response terminology, ensuring accurate and meaningful communication.
Through efficient interpreter coordination and flexible technical solutions, Maven successfully supported IFRC events in both virtual and on-site settings. Despite short lead times and complex subject matter, our interpreters delivered precise and professional interpretation in French and Russian, facilitating critical discussions on humanitarian aid and disaster response.
Our continued collaboration with IFRC highlights our ability to adapt to urgent requests, provide multilingual coverage, and support the global humanitarian mission through expert language services.
