Maven provides interpretation services in the UAE for conferences, government forums, trade exhibitions, investment summits, delegation visits and business meetings in all seven emirates. Interpreters can work on-site, remotely or in hybrid format. The equipment with relevant technical support can be provided for interpretation in simultaneous format.

Maven has offices in the USA, Ireland, the UAE and Malaysia and has delivered interpretation in more than 20 countries. Assignments in the Emirates are run by our UAE office in Sharjah.

You can read more about our interpretation services in Dubai and Abu Dhabi on their respective pages. This page covers the entire country and the emirates outside those two cities: Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and the Al Ain region.

Languages across the UAE

Arabic is the official language under Article 7 of the Constitution, and English is used widely in business: road and commercial signs carry both. The population reached 11.3 million at the end of 2024 and includes more than 200 nationalities, with Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis the largest expatriate groups. The UAE government lists Bengali, Farsi, Malayalam, Turkish and Urdu among the other widely spoken languages.

Arabic interpreters in the UAE

Arabic interpreters in the UAE are required wherever government entities, delegations from other Arab states or Arabic-language media take part, most often paired with English.

Russian interpreters in the UAE

Russian interpreters in the UAE are required for trade, investment and tourism meetings: in December 2025 the UAE economy minister put the number of Russian companies registered in the country at more than 13,500, and Ras Al Khaimah reported a 20 percent rise in visitors from Russia in 2025.

UN-format meetings add Chinese, French and Spanish, the other official UN languages. Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu and Farsi follow from the country's trade links and resident communities. Tell us the languages your delegates speak and we will put together the team of interpreters in the UAE.

Clients we support across the UAE

Federal and emirate-level bodies, UN agencies and NGOs organize and host events and meetings that may require interpretation support. Where proceedings are formal, the language is set by statute: Article 5(1) of the Civil Procedure Code, Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2022, provides that Arabic is the language used in courts, and that the court hears litigants, witnesses or others who have no knowledge of Arabic with the help of an interpreter, after that interpreter has taken an oath. The DIFC and ADGM courts sit outside that rule and operate in English under their own common-law frameworks.

Events across the Emirates that require interpreters

Many of the events that require interpreters in the northern emirates and Al Ain recur every year or two, so language support can be planned well ahead. Interpretation services in Sharjah are most often requested for publishing, government communication and investment events.

Where interpretation is required across the Emirates

Dubai and Abu Dhabi carry most of the demand and each has its own page. Abu Dhabi City is the Capital of the Federation under Article 9 of the Constitution, so federal business and delegation work concentrates there, while the five northern emirates each run an economy of their own. One scheduling point catches people out: the federal government works Monday to Thursday with a half day on Friday, Sharjah's government works a four-day week with a three-day weekend, and the private sector was never required to change. The country runs on Gulf Standard Time, four hours ahead of GMT, with no daylight saving.

  • Sharjah

GDP reached AED 145.2 billion in 2023, AED 142.5 billion of it from the non-oil sector. Three ports and several free zones. Maven's UAE office is here.

  • Ajman

GDP passed AED 36 billion in 2023, and manufacturing is its single largest sector at 18.9 percent.

  • Ras Al Khaimah

A manufacturing economy in construction materials, petrochemicals, ceramics and pharmaceuticals, with no single sector above 30 percent of GDP.

  • Fujairah

The only emirate lying entirely on the east coast and the country's gateway to the Indian Ocean, with oil and marine services terminals. GDP reached AED 29.13 billion in 2024.

  • Umm Al Quwain

Exports seafood across Europe and the Middle East, and runs a Sustainable Blue Economy Strategy to 2031.

  • Al Ain and the inland region

Agriculture and government events inland from the capital, about 90 minutes from Abu Dhabi city.

  • Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The two largest markets by some distance. Each has its own page, linked above.

Interpretation equipment and technical support across the UAE

For interpretation equipment rent in the UAE we supply:

  • Soundproof booths
  • Interpreter consoles and headsets
  • Infrared or FM systems
  • Wireless receivers for delegates
  • Portable systems for tours and small rooms
  • Technicians on site

The full range is described on our interpretation equipment page.

Maven does not keep its own equipment inventory in every emirate. We focus on the language side of conference interpretation: sourcing and coordinating qualified simultaneous interpreters and selecting the right team for your event.

For interpretation equipment, we partner with reliable technical providers who handle the technical delivery of the systems. We closely coordinate both the equipment and the interpreting team to ensure the setup perfectly suits your event, and that interpreters and technicians work seamlessly together from setup through the final session.

Equipment needs vary widely in scale and specification. Even agencies that own equipment can run short when a requirement exceeds their stock or several events fall on the same dates. We can match professional, market-standard equipment and technical support to each event.

Additional peripherals such as microphones, projectors, screens and voting devices can also be provided as part of a turnkey solution.

Questions about interpreters in the UAE

Simultaneous interpretation for conferences and forums, consecutive interpretation for meetings and visits. Both formats can be delivered on-site, remote or in hybrid setups. For on-demand short interpretation needs we also offer phone interpreter services. Additionally AI interpretation is offered for clientele who prefer it.

Simultaneous interpretation: we cover the official language of the UAE, Arabic, and the most frequently required languages, with interpreters available locally in combination with English: Russian, French, Spanish, Chinese and others. Interpretation into other languages may require interpreters to travel from other cities. Remote delivery can accommodate simultaneous interpretation into any major official language.

Consecutive interpretation: on-site, we can cover the most frequently required languages, with some limitations for rare and endangered languages. More choice is available if interpretation is provided remotely.

Please note that we can also provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation pairing Arabic with other major languages, including French, Spanish, and Russian, upon request.

On-demand phone interpretation: we cover 350+ languages including endangered and rare dialects. The full list is on our languages page.

Yes. Booths, consoles, receivers, portable systems and technicians are arranged through local technical partners, with Maven as your single provider. The equipment section above explains how this works and what can be supplied.
Yes. We cover Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain as well as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The same team of interpreters can follow a program that moves between emirates, for example a forum in Sharjah followed by site visits in Ras Al Khaimah.
Most of Maven's clients are UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, governments, NGOs and international sports federations, and we also work for corporate clients. In the UAE that means ministries and emirate-level authorities, UN offices present in the UAE, humanitarian organizations, chambers of commerce, event organizers and companies.
We’d need to know the required interpretation languages, the dates and the duration of interpretation on each day, the venue (for a physical event, the city or area is sufficient), the format (on-site, hybrid or remote) and the subject matter of your event. If you require equipment as well, we need to know the total number of delegates who will require interpretation.
The format (simultaneous or consecutive), the required languages, the duration (number of days or hours), the delivery mode (on-site, remote or hybrid) and the subject matter. Travel and per diem charges may apply if interpretation is required outside Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
Interpreters in simultaneous format require advance booking notice of 20 to 40 or more days, although we understand this is not always possible. In peak seasons with many events, some interpreters are booked as early as six months in advance. Consecutive interpreters can be booked at much shorter notice.
We normally require advance payment to book interpreters, either full or partial. We can offer more flexible terms to selected and regular clients & UN.
