Interpretation Services in Thailand

Interpretation for conferences, trade shows and site visits across Thailand

Maven provides interpretation services in Thailand for international conferences, trade shows, industrial site visits, corporate meetings, research fieldwork and delegation visits in the north, the northeast, the eastern seaboard and the south. Interpreters can work on-site, remotely or in hybrid format. The equipment with relevant technical support can be provided for interpretation in simultaneous format.

Maven has offices in the USA, Ireland, the UAE and Malaysia and has delivered interpretation in more than 20 countries. Assignments in Thailand are run through our Malaysia office in Kuala Lumpur, which plans each one, selects the interpreters and coordinates equipment and travel.

You can read more about our interpretation services in Bangkok on its own page. This page covers the entire country and the places outside the capital: Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Pattaya, Rayong, Phuket and Hat Yai.

Languages across Thailand

Thai is the official language, and its written form is the same nationwide even though speech differs from region to region. Outside the capital many people speak a regional variety at home, and in the border provinces Burmese, Karen, Khmer and Malay are common. The language mix on any given assignment depends as much on the province as on the sector.

Thai interpreters in Thailand

Thai interpreters in Thailand are required for local authorities, universities, factories and any meeting where officials or company staff speak Thai and foreign delegates follow in English. Regional varieties matter for fieldwork: Isan has around 15 million speakers in the northeast, Northern Thai around 6 million and Southern Thai around 4.5 million.

Mandarin interpreters in Thailand

Mandarin interpreters in Thailand are required for investor visits and factory meetings in the Eastern Economic Corridor, which covers Chonburi, Rayong and Chachoengsao. Chinese investors in its industrial estates rose from 1,256 in 2024 to 1,584 in 2025 and now account for 17.06 percent of all investors there, second to Japan at 22.75 percent, so Japanese is the third language to plan for.

In the border provinces Burmese, Karen, Khmer and Malay are common, and Northern Khmer alone has about 1.4 million speakers. Our interpreters cover these languages for on-site interpretation services across the country. Tell us the languages your delegates speak and we will put together the team of interpreters in Thailand.

Academic and professional associations, companies, government bodies, UN agencies and NGOs organize many of the meetings held across Thailand that require interpreters.

Events across Thailand that require interpreters

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau names five MICE cities, four of them outside the capital. Many of these events return on a cycle, so language support can be planned well ahead.

Global Sustainable Tourism Conference, April 2026

The three Phuket events together are expected to bring 2,100 international attendees.

Where interpretation is required across Thailand

Bangkok generates most of the conference demand and has its own page. Across the rest of the country the work splits between the convention cities, the industrial corridor and fieldwork in the provinces:

  • Bangkok

The capital carries most of the congress and UN-format work. It has its own page.

  • Chiang Mai

A named MICE city. Secured six international conferences for 2025, expecting around 3,600 delegates.

  • Khon Kaen

A named MICE city and the meeting hub for the northeast.

  • Pattaya and Chonburi

A named MICE city inside the Eastern Economic Corridor, with a heavy events calendar alongside the industrial estates.

  • Rayong

Petrochemical and manufacturing plants in the Eastern Economic Corridor. Audits, commissioning and supplier visits run in Mandarin or Japanese alongside Thai.

  • Chachoengsao

The third Eastern Economic Corridor province, with the newer industrial estates.

  • Phuket

A named MICE city hosting three global conferences through 2026, expected to bring 2,100 international attendees.

  • Hat Yai and the far south

Cross-border trade with Malaysia, and the one region where Malay is routinely required alongside Thai.

  • The north and the northeast

Research fieldwork, development programmes and meetings with provincial authorities, often needing Isan or Northern Thai as well as standard Thai.

Interpretation equipment and technical support across Thailand

For interpretation equipment rent in Thailand we supply:

  • Soundproof booths
  • Interpreter consoles and headsets
  • Infrared or FM systems
  • Wireless receivers for delegates
  • Portable systems for factory tours and small rooms
  • Technicians on site

The full range is described on our interpretation equipment page.

Maven does not keep its own equipment inventory in every location. We focus on the language side of conference interpretation: sourcing and coordinating qualified simultaneous interpreters and selecting the right team for your event.

Across Thailand we work with reliable technical providers near the venue, who handle the delivery of the systems. We coordinate the equipment and the interpreting team together, so the setup suits the event and the interpreters and technicians work as one from rehearsal through the final session.

Equipment needs vary widely in scale and specification. Even agencies that own equipment can run short when a requirement exceeds their stock or several events fall on the same dates. We can match professional, market-standard equipment and technical support to each event.

Additional peripherals such as microphones, projectors, screens and voting devices can also be provided as part of a turnkey solution.

    US Federal Government

Maven provided on-site simultaneous interpretation for a military conference led by the US Federal Government at a venue about three hours from Bangkok. The interpreters came from Europe and Asia, and Maven managed their travel, accommodation and on-site logistics.

Questions about interpreters in Thailand

Simultaneous interpretation for conferences and forums, consecutive interpretation for meetings and visits. Both formats can be delivered on-site, remote or in hybrid setups. For on-demand short interpretation needs we also offer phone interpreter services. Additionally AI interpretation is offered for clientele who prefer it.

Simultaneous interpretation: we cover the official language of Thailand, Thai, and the most frequently required languages, with interpreters available locally in combination with English: Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Burmese, Khmer, Malay and others. Interpretation into regional varieties such as Isan, Northern Thai or Southern Thai may require interpreters to travel from Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur. Remote delivery can accommodate simultaneous interpretation into any major official language.

Consecutive interpretation: on-site, we can cover the most frequently required languages, with some limitations for rare and endangered languages. More choice is available if interpretation is provided remotely.

On-demand phone interpretation: we cover 350+ languages including endangered and rare dialects. The full list is on our languages page.

Yes. Booths, consoles, receivers, portable systems and technicians are arranged through reliable technical partners near the venue, always coordinated with the interpreters, with Maven as your single provider. The equipment section above explains how this works and what can be supplied.
Yes. We have delivered a conference at a venue about three hours from Bangkok, with the interpreters' travel and accommodation managed by Maven. For Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Pattaya, Phuket or Hat Yai, the team is put together by language pair and subject, and interpreters may be based locally or travel to the venue.
Most of Maven's clients are UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, governments, NGOs and international sports federations, and we also work for corporate clients. A published example in Thailand is a military conference led by the US Federal Government.
We’d need to know the required interpretation languages, the dates and the duration of interpretation on each day, the venue (for a physical event, the city or area is sufficient), the format (on-site, hybrid or remote) and the subject matter of your event. If you require equipment as well, we need to know the total number of delegates who will require interpretation.
The format (simultaneous or consecutive), the required languages, the duration (number of days or hours), the delivery mode (on-site, remote or hybrid) and the subject matter. Travel and per diem charges may apply if interpretation is required outside Bangkok, or if interpreters travel from other cities or countries.
Interpreters in simultaneous format require advance booking notice of 20 to 40 or more days, although we understand this is not always possible. In peak seasons with many events (such as large exhibitions), some interpreters are booked as early as six months in advance. Consecutive interpreters can be booked at much shorter notice.
We normally require advance payment to book interpreters, either full or partial. We can offer more flexible terms to selected and regular clients & UN.
