Interpretation Services in Bali

Interpretation for international conferences and government forums in Nusa Dua and across Bali

Maven provides interpretation services in Bali for international conferences, government forums, association congresses, incentive events, board meetings and press conferences, most of them in the Nusa Dua convention district. Interpreters can work on-site, online or hybrid, and simultaneous interpretation can be supported with equipment and technicians on site.

Maven's Indonesia office is in Jakarta, and assignments in Bali are run from there.

Bali venues where our interpreters work

Nusa Dua is a resort enclave managed by the state tourism developer ITDC, with about 20 hotels and two international convention centers. Our interpreters can work in venues across Bali, including the following:

  • Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center

The largest convention center on the island, with a main hall that divides into smaller halls and dozens of multi-function rooms. Hosts summits, international organization meetings and large association congresses.

  • Bali International Convention Centre

Attached to The Westin in Nusa Dua, with large plenary and breakout space and in-house interpretation facilities. Hosts intergovernmental forums, international association meetings and hybrid conferences.

  • The Mulia

In Nusa Dua. A conference wing with two pillarless ballrooms and about 15 meeting rooms, used for corporate conferences and incentive events.

  • The Apurva Kempinski

On the Nusa Dua coast. Ballrooms and outdoor terraces used for leaders' meetings, high-level dinners and corporate events.

  • Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park

In Ungasan. Outdoor plazas used for gala dinners, receptions and large evening programs during conferences.

Resorts in Jimbaran, Ubud and Sanur and government buildings in Denpasar also host interpreted meetings.

Indonesian interpreters in Bali

Indonesian interpreters in Bali are required at government-hosted forums and ministerial meetings in Nusa Dua, where Indonesian officials speak Indonesian and international delegations follow in English or their own languages.

Mandarin interpreters in Bali

Mandarin interpreters in Bali are required for delegations, investors and corporate incentive groups from China, which is one of the island's three largest visitor markets.

Balinese is the language of village and ceremonial life, and the provincial government protects its use, including Balinese script on public signs. It is required for community consultations and research fieldwork rather than conferences, along with Javanese, Madurese and Sasak for workers who come from other islands.

Interpretation equipment and technical support in Bali

For interpretation equipment rental in Bali Maven supplies:

  • Soundproof booths
  • Interpreter consoles and headsets
  • Infrared or FM systems
  • Wireless receivers for delegates
  • Portable systems for tours and small rooms
  • Technicians on site

In Bali the equipment comes through reliable technical partners on the island. Maven's own role is the language side of the conference: finding and coordinating qualified simultaneous interpreters and selecting the right team for the program.

Some Nusa Dua convention venues have their own interpretation facilities, so Maven checks what the venue supplies and adds booths, receivers and technicians where a program runs in more rooms or more languages than the venue can handle. Resort ballrooms and outdoor venues need a full portable setup, which the partners deliver and run with the interpreter team.

Microphones, projectors, screens and voting devices can be supplied with the interpretation system as one package.

Questions about interpreters in Bali

Which interpretation formats do you offer?
In Bali Maven provides simultaneous interpretation for conferences, forums and congresses, and consecutive interpretation for bilateral meetings, press conferences and visits. Both formats can run on-site, remotely or hybrid. Phone interpreter services cover short, on-demand needs, and AI interpretation is offered to clients who prefer it.
What types of clients do you work with in Bali?
Maven works mainly with UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, governments, NGOs and international sports federations, plus corporate clients. In Bali that means government-hosted forums, international organization meetings, association congresses, incentive groups and companies.
Which languages can you cover in Bali?
Simultaneous interpretation: English and Indonesian plus Arabic, French, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Mandarin, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese, with interpreters available locally or arranged from Jakarta. Other languages may need interpreters to travel, or can be covered remotely. Phone interpretation covers 350+ languages.
What information do you require to prepare estimates for conference interpretation in Bali?
An estimate needs the languages, the dates and daily hours, the venue (Nusa Dua, Jimbaran or another area is enough), the format (on-site, hybrid or remote) and the subject matter. For equipment, the number of delegates using interpretation and the number of rooms are needed too.
Can you provide interpretation equipment as well as interpreters?
Yes. Booths, consoles, receivers, portable systems and technicians come through reliable technical partners in Bali, and Maven coordinates them with the interpreter team. Where a Nusa Dua venue has its own interpretation facilities, Maven works with them and adds what is missing.
What affects the cost of interpretation in Bali?
Several things set the price: whether the work is simultaneous or consecutive, the languages, how many days or hours, whether delivery is on-site, remote or hybrid, and the subject matter. Travel and per diem charges may apply when interpreters travel to Bali or work outside the island.
Can a conference in Bali run with remote interpreters?
Yes. Remote simultaneous interpretation suits hybrid meetings and languages that are hard to staff on the island, with the venue's technicians feeding the interpretation to the room and to online participants.
Do you cover venues outside Nusa Dua?
Yes. Maven covers venues across Bali, including resort hotels in Jimbaran, Ubud and Sanur, Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park in Ungasan and government buildings in Denpasar.
How far ahead should we book?
Simultaneous interpreters for Bali events normally need 20 to 40 days' notice or more, though this is not always possible. In busy conference months, and when several large meetings fall on the same dates, some interpreters are booked six months ahead. Consecutive interpreters can be arranged at shorter notice.
How to book a conference interpreter in Bali?
A full or partial advance payment is normally needed to confirm interpreters for a conference in Bali. More flexible payment terms can be agreed with selected and regular clients, and with the UN. The languages, dates and venue are enough to prepare an estimate.
